The Accumulator Challenge
Date
01/02/2017

York College Business Students are taking part in the Accumulator Challenge this February to raise a phenomenal amount of money for St Leonard's Hospice. If you can't attend one of our many events taking place this month, then please support the students and donate to help them become Accumulator Challenge Champions.

Story

York College Business students visited the hospice in preparation for the challenge so that they could see where the money that they were raising was going to be spent and theses are some of their comments below: "My first impressions of the hospice is that it was a caring, loving and warm environment to live in during the later years of your life. The hospice was surrounded by members of the patient’s families and supporting workers to help make tie go by in the most peaceful and loving way as possible. The hospice respects its 5 star service to their patients and believes that’s what makes the patients so grateful of the care they are given. Another amazing facility St Leonard's Hospice is that they allow friends and family to stay over and live with their loved ones and be with them for as much time as they can. They also provide kitchen facilities for the families so they can cook meals whilst they are on the premise this allows them to share meal times with their friend or member of their family in care." Alex, 17. "As soon as I stepped into St Leonard's Hospice with my friends there was an instant sense of emotion surrounding us all, however this was soon balanced by the warmth and smiles of the people who work there. First of all we discussed the hospice and we went into a bit more detail about the things they do and how they operate. We received a tour of the hospice and were shown the specific areas that is has to offer, every room was colourful, modern and more than you would expect. Visiting showed me a hospice of which I did not expect to see, St Leonard's was amazing, and from the facilities to the staff everything was just great. After leaving I realised just how much St Leonard's needs to be appreciated by everyone, it really is something special." Ben, 18.

One last donation from me to my fabulous, hard working students. I am so unbelievably proud of you! This past month, you have frustrated me, challenged me and exhausted me but it's been a roller coaster of a ride and I wouldn't have chosen to be on it with anyone else. You're truly an inspiration!
