Before I Die Festival - Dying Matters
This year, for the first time, the Hospice has joined forces with the ‘York Before I Die Festival’ in celebration of Dying Matters Awareness Week, which is 8-14 May 2017. The Festival encourages people to be more open about dying, death and bereavement and gives advice and support on a number of simple practical steps which can make things easier for you, your family and friends when the time comes. Things like Power of Attorney, where you would like to be cared for as the end of life approaches, what music you might like at your funeral, what’s on your bucket list, and the gifts you may want to leave in your Will.
We want to encourage people to get their affairs sorted out whilst fit and well, and then get on with living life to the full. There are also some interesting sessions on such topics as assisted dying, supporting children through bereavement and making advanced decisions about your end of life choices.
This Awareness Week is the perfect opportunity for the Hospice to promote our annual ‘Make A Will Week
.’ Making a Will and letting your family and friends know your wishes are vital, and it can be a lot more affordable than you think. Once again, we are offering you the opportunity to have a Will written in exchange for a donation to the Hospice. We are very grateful to the participating solicitors who are giving their time, free of charge. For further information please visit our website or contact Sue Edwards on 01904 777777 or email email@example.com
Alternatively, as part of the Festival agenda, you can come and meet the Hospice team and participating solicitors on Parliament Street, York City Centre on 11th May, 10am to 4pm, or at York Theatre Royal between 11am and 2pm.
