Derwent & Pocklington Lions raise money for St Leonard's

Two local Lions clubs have joined together to collect and recycle Christmas trees whilst raising money for local causes.

The Derwent Lions, which covers the villages to the East and South of York, and volunteers collected trees in Dunnington and Elvington on 6 January and Stamford Bridge on 7 January. On the same weekend, the Pocklington District Lions Club collected trees, covering postcodes YO42, YO43 3 and YO41 5.

Collections were free of charge but people were encouraged to include a voluntary donation with their booking. Money raised will be donated to St Leonard’s Hospice, Martin House Children’s Hospice and various other local causes supported by the Lions.

Donations are still being collected and counted - total TBC!

A huge thank you to both groups and their volunteers and supporters for their genrosity and support.
