Occupational Therapy is about helping
reach your potential and improving your quality of life.
We believe that activity promotes well being. This can be anything from practical activities like getting washed and dressed, or purely fun things like sitting in the garden or reminiscing.
Help with sleeping
If you are having trouble sleeping or if you are feeling anxious, we can show you relaxation techniques to help.
We have equipment that might be useful whilst in the Hospice, including washing and dressing aids, mobility aids and communication aids.
Visits and the Suflower Centre
If you want to go somewhere special, it might be possible to arrange a trip for you - or you might just feel like visiting the Sunflower Centre for a cup of tea. There you’ll have the chance to meet other people in a friendly environment, maybe have a go at a craft activity, or do a quiz.
If you are planning to go home soon, the Occupational Therapist can help you prepare for this. They may arrange to visit your house with you, order equipment you may need, and make sure that everything is ready for when you go home.
Because everyone is an individual, everyone's needs are different. The Occupational Therapist will respond to you as an individual and try to think of anything that will help you make the most of your time at the Hospice. This could be something that has been mentioned above, or something entirely different! Sometimes it is the little things that can make the biggest difference.
