Birthday Walks

Raise money for your school/group – and help your local hospice

We should like to take this opportunity to thank you for all the support everyone has shown to St Leonard’s Hospice in the past.

Schools Walk invitationJune 2010 marks our 25th Birthday and we are planning sponsored walks with 25 different schools or groups to celebrate the Silver Jubilee Year.  We know June can be a very busy month so we propose that the walk can be completed within a certain time scale to suit you - a mutual date can be discussed and we are happy to accommodate each individual request.

Why should you be involved?

  • All sponsor money received will be split between St Leonard’s Hospice and your school/group

We would help to make the walk as easy and as much fun as possible for you to take part.

  • We will provide you with all the paper work, posters and sponsor forms and also help to organise the walk on the day within your grounds.
  • Lenny Bear, the Hospice Mascot will visit to lead the walk along with another member of Hospice staff.
  • We will incorporate the walk into any existing lesson plans or it could be developed around ‘Every Child Matters’ and should easily cover numerous areas of this.  This can be discussed further

The walk could also be used to aid community Walk posterlinks by encouraging parents/grandparents or toddlers to participate also, this would again be at the discretion of each group.

The walk will not cost anything; all we ask is that you arrange the necessary written permission for each child who is taking part and collect the sponsor money in at the end of the event.  The walk can be aimed at the whole school; a particular class group, there will be no restrictions on the numbers.  All sponsor money received will be split between St Leonard’s Hospice and yourselves.

We will be pleased to provide you with
An interactive talk entitled ‘What is a Hospice’ prior to the walk (if you feel this would be appropriate)

  •  Posters to advertise the event in-house and the surrounding area.
  •  Leaflets and Literature about the Hospice – aimed at both children and adults.
  •  Sponsor forms for each child.
  •  Name stickers and certificates for during the walk.
  •  Lenny Bear to lead the walk and a member of staff to assist.
