STORIES TO MAKE YOU SMILE
St Leonard’s Hospice celebrated Hospice Month, in June, this year by encouraging local Primary School and Nursery Children to ‘Go Yellow’ in different ways – see how much fun we had!

MINSTER SUNFLOWER
We had lots a fun creating this years Sunflower Display in the wonderful
York Minster, what a special honour for us! Thank you to everyone involved and to The York Press and Yorkshire Post for taking some lovely pictures.
Our annual sunflower display helps to raise awareness of the work of the Hospice in caring for local people. The sunflower is the symbol of St Leonard’s Hospice and the Hospice Movement.

ABBEY FIELDS BEAR HUNT!
Abbey Fields Day Nursery, Selby invited Lenny Bear on a Bear Hunt, to find some sunflowers; the children weren’t scared!
The sunflowers were in a special cave. When they were found we used them on the display in The Minster.
BUNS AND RAINBOWS
Alex Forman, a pupil of Huntington Primary School baked and sold buns raising £14.73. The school council then organised a Rainbow Day, asking pupils to dress in bright, ‘rainbow colours’. It raised a fantastic £377.55!

LENNY HAS LUNCH AT CLIFFE!
Cliffe VC Primary in Selby invited St Leonard’s Hospice Mascot Lenny Bear for lunch to celebrate their Yellow Day.
Lenny had lots of fun meeting the children and enjoyed being entertained by Adele’s Song ‘Someone like you’, a lovely way to finish the visit. The 90 pupils raised £110.80 - excellent!
Some exciting numbers!
13 Schools and nurseries decorated 2000 sunflowers to create our display
11 Schools and nurseries dressed in yellow for the day to raise £1363.33
English Martyr’s Primary School choose to ‘bling their bike’ raising £45.20 - and there’s still more money to follow!
Lenny Bear also visited 10 schools and nurseries to meet children, collect money, give out certificates and have fun joining in games, lessons and play time.
