St Leonard's Hospice is marking its Silver Jubilee in 2010 with a fund-raising trek to Nepal, starting in late October 2010 - and St Leonard’s Director of Fundraising, Janet Morley, is inviting anyone who likes a challenge to join her in the high Himalayas!
Here is the chance of a lifetime to mark this very special occasion! Join Janet on top of the world with a 10-day trek to Bhara Pokari in Nepal from
28 October to 7 November 2010.
Organised by specialists Community Action Treks (CAT), who ensure that the trek also helps support the local Nepali people, this special adventure will take you on mountain paths with stunning views of some of the highest of the Himalayan peaks.
CAT provides full support and training for the trek - all you need is a reasonable level of fitness and some experience of walking up and down hills - Nepal is not like the Vale of York!
Each day you will walk for anything between four and eight hours. You'll pass through lush forest and by thundering waterfalls and raging rivers as well as seeing magnificent mountain vistas. En route there is plenty of time for rest, taking photographs and enjoying a cooked lunch. You will visit some of the projects that CAT is helping, meet local people and explore the rich Nepali culture.
Accommodation is in robust two-person tents (put up and taken down for you!) with foam mattresses and substantial meals. And you only have to carry your day-sack as everything else is transported. 
St Leonard's is asking everyone who goes on the trek to guarantee to raise sponsorship of at least £1,000. You will also need to pay the cost of
getting to Nepal and back, and of the trek itself. A weekend of training in the Lake District from 9 to 11 July 2010 is included in the price.
