Local businesses raise over £18,000 in Accumulator Challenge

Local businesses enjoyed a bit of friendly rivalry and teamwork throughout March whilst fundraising to raise as much as they could for the Hospice in the Accumulator Challenge, ending with an incredible £18,075.

The teams taking part included the Marriott Hotel, The Grand Hotel, Tesco Askham Bar, Ainsty Ales, York Mix Radio, St Leonard’s staff team, York Gin, Indigo Greens estate agents and RG Law Solicitors.

Fundraising activities from the teams have ranged from quiz nights, raffles, cake sales, craft and book sales, triathlons, sponsored walks and more.

Paul Marshall, Events and Fundraising Assistant at St Leonard’s Hospice, York, said: “Everybody’s got a story about St Leonard’s in York, if its not you personally it’s someone you know. We serve a lot of the community and that’s why it’s so important to us to fundraise in creative ways that gets everyone talking about us. The commitment shown by all teams taking part in each year’s Accumulator Challenge is amazing! The teams have given up much of their free time arranging fundraising activities and getting others involved. We are grateful and truly humbled by the passion, dedication, and enthusiasm they have shown towards the hospice.  Our care would simply not be possible without the continued support of our community and businesses like all those who’ve taken part in the Accumulator Challenge, and their partners, suppliers and customers who have helped.”
