Light up a Life 2020

Christmas can be a very reflective and moving time of year, as your thoughts turn to your loved ones, who are sadly absent throughout this special season. Once again this year, we invite you, your family and friends to remember and celebrate those exceptional people that brought light to your lives.

By choosing to dedicate a light on our Light up a Life trees in memory of a loved one, or as a gift commemorating a friend or relative, you are not only remembering them but helping support and fund all the good work St Leonard’s Hospice does within the community.

Those you are dedicating a light to do not have to have been cared for by the Hospice. It is a chance for everyone to remember those special people and celebrate their lives. It also gives those who have lost loved ones during the COVID-19 pandemic the opportunity to remember them.

Our four Light Up a Life Christmas trees will be placed in St Helen’s Square in York, Selby Abbey, Easingwold Methodist Church and the Hospice grounds. These will all bear hundreds of twinkling lights, each one representing the life of someone special.

Light Up a Life Service
We will also be screening a virtual service on 13th December 2020 which you and your loved ones can participate in at home. Further information on this special service will be coming soon.

How to Dedicate
To dedicate a light on one of our four real trees, please click the Dedicate Now button below. The name of your loved one will be recorded in a special Book of Honour and you will also receive a commemorative card. You can also request a home pack which will include an Order of Service and a candle for our virtual service.

Light Up a Life Virtual Trees
Alternatively you can dedicate a light on our virtual trees on our website here. Simply submit your loved one’s name, along with a short message, and see their light twinkle and come to life. You can also share this light with your family and friends, no matter how near or far away they are. If you would like an Order of Service and a candle to participate in the virtual service, please email sarah.atkinson@stleonardshospice.nhs.uk
