Message of Thanks

During this very challenging time, St Leonard's Hospice staff are working hard and adapting working practices to ensure we can continue to run as normally as possible. We have been overwhelmed by the support from our community, which has helped keep everyone's spirits up. Add your message of support below for the nurses, doctors, health care assistants, housekeeping, kitchen staff, administrative and support staff, volunteers and more. You may choose to say thanks or share some kind words of support.

"What a truly amazing place St Leonard’s is, from the moment we arrived to see Dad after his transfer from hospital we felt cared for as a family. The work you do is outstanding and we can’t thank you enough for looking after Dad. Stay safe."

"Although it is now some eight years since you took such wonderful care for our daughter Alison during the final weeks of her life, and while we still miss her terribly, we do draw some comfort from the fact that her last days were made so much more comfortable by the staff at St Leonards. The kindness, care and compassion shown to Alison, was incredible and provided comfort not only to our daughter but also her loved ones. Even today, so long after, it is one comforting aspect which remains with us. Thank you all for the care and compassion you showed. "

"I would like to pass my thanks onto Jayne and the many other nurses who cared for my Father in his final few days.
You were all so kind to myself and my other family members and we are eternally grateful we could all say our ‘Goodbyes’ to him in his final hours on 30/04/2020.
It has been a painful time for my family and I, but we are thankful that he was cared for and made comfortable in St Leonard’s Hospice. Each member of staff whom we met were supportive and kind in the exceptionally difficult circumstances.
You are all hero’s in my eyes and I thank you all for looking after my Dad, Barry.
Thank you to Jayne and team. Xxxxxx

"My mum was looked after for the last weeks of her life by the hospice at home team. What an amazing group of lovely people they are. Mum was treated with nothing but kindness and respect and I am so thankful that we could keep mum at home as she wished because we had these very special ladies caring for mum and supporting the family, nothing was ever too much trouble. We can never thank this team of dedicated and fabulously wonderful people enough "

"Today and everyday, you care, support and assist many patients and their families.
Today, being International Nurses Day everyone appreciates you.
Today and everyday I feel grateful for what you did and continue to do.
Tonight there will be lights shining to show we all care
But everyday you shine your own lights over those you care for.
We remain truly grateful, thankyou.

"I would like to thank each & everyone of the staff at St Leonard's for the love & hard work they put in. My mum was there from july 2019 till she passed away in Aug. They looked after her & us in so many ways. My mum developed quite a sweet tooth & loved all the little deserts & even got a cheeky extra one now & then Haha! Mum peacefully passed away with my sister-in-law by her side & a lovely Nurse called Rose, I arrived literally mins after & she was a great comfort. They gave us information & tips on how to try & explain everything to my 3 children who adored their Nanna. They truly are all wonderful & at this challenging time I'm sure it's so hard you are all Heros. Keep going your all doing amazingly."

"I can’t find enough words to thank everyone at St Leonard’s for the care that was given to my daughter last year. All of us as a family are so grateful for the care Nicky received.
I am hoping to become a volunteer when this pandemic is over and try to give a little bit back. Biggest love to you all xxx"

"I just want to say a huge, heartfelt thank you to everyone at both the hospice and hospice at home team for the way they looked after my husband Ian. He wasn’t just a patient... he was treated as the individual person he was and nothing was ever too much trouble. The support for myself and our children was second to non and when Ian did get home the hospice at home team were amazing going above and beyond as far as I am concerned. At such a devastating time they were all there for us and I can’t thank you all enough."

"There aren't words big enough to express my thanks for the amazing end of life care you all gave my Mum, Marie, during her time with in Febriary/March. I say care rather than support, because each person truly cared for her; listened to her fears and held her hand. We cannot thank you enough, our family stumbled through a truly dreadful time and you helped us when it was too much, picked us up when we stumbled, held us when we cried. It means so, so much."
